My old house was used to be on surface of the sea and is not there any more. If one crossed the Causeway from Singapore (across the Straits of Johor), my old house was in Stulang Laut (Laut means Sea, at right side of picture 1). Now it is a sea side park (pictures 2-7) with KFC (pictures 8-13) at far end in front of Foon Yew High School (pictures 14-19). The KFC, with good view of the strait and school, is probably owned by Sultan. Across the road in front of the houses, it used to have Sultan's garden but was gone.

Below Google map (east side of JB) lists all my old houses in the district of Stulang Darat (Darat means Land) though I always consider them to be in Stulang Laut (Laut means Sea). Picture 2 is the view of the Causeway (新柔長堤) from JB in old time and Stulang Laut is at left side. I found a picture of an old stilt house (高腳屋 picture above) which I remembered was located somewhere across New Hong Kong restaurant (新香港 picture 3, still here). My rental is in Stulang Laut (in old time called 新甘光). From here to almost the end of Stulang Laut (before KFC), along the seaside, were stilt houses in old time. The day (2019.7.9) we were here, the road was jammed because they said every day 400,000+ people commuting to work in Singapore. With 1 SGD= 3 MYR, Singapore attracts many workers from Malaysia. Now we own a unit at Stulng Laut (pictures 7-8, where road sign pointing to).

(DY's facebook) Finally came to Weeyong’s hometown Johor Bahru, visited the two places he had lived , but the stilt house is long gone! Kids are very interested in everything about Johor Bahru! Behind is Johor Strait ,used to have the stilt house weeyong lived! The old temple is most popular place for local Chinese New Year celebration! Johor Sudan palace garden (Istana Bukit Serene, last 2 pictures), night view!

We had toured Rawa island, Kuala Lumpur and Malacca before visiting JB. When we came to JB, we visited a souvenir shop and learnt Malay dance. Micah shot 2nd video. In first video, the words "Rasa Sayang" means "Feeling Loving". Recent years, most development is in the west side of JB along the waterfronts. A large China's project Forest City, being built there, is budgeted 100 Billion US dollars! Unfortunately, the east side is less developed.

Above video shows the touring of JB downtown, Stulang Laut (east side), night time Istana Bukit Serene (west side), breakfast at hotel and playing at shopping mall. Click to see Johor Bahru pictures
